Music Licensing Terms
These Music Licensing Terms (“License Terms”) govern the use of music, audio tracks, music packs, soundtracks, and related downloadable audio content made available by Slice of Sound.
By purchasing, downloading, or otherwise obtaining a Slice of Sound product that references these License Terms, you agree to comply with them.
These License Terms apply unless a specific product includes a separate license agreement stating otherwise.
1. License Grant
When you legally purchase or download a Slice of Sound music product, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the licensed music as part of your own creative projects, subject to these License Terms.
The license allows you to incorporate the music into a larger project where the music is not the primary product being distributed.
You are purchasing or receiving a license to use the music.
You are not purchasing ownership of the music itself or any intellectual property rights controlled by Slice of Sound.
2. Commercial and Non-Commercial Use
Unless otherwise stated on the product page, Slice of Sound music may be used in both:
- Commercial projects
- Non-commercial projects
Commercial use may include projects that generate revenue through sales, advertising, subscriptions, sponsorships, donations, memberships, or other forms of monetization.
No additional royalty payment to Slice of Sound is required solely because your licensed project becomes commercially successful, unless a specific product license explicitly states otherwise.
3. Permitted Uses
Subject to these License Terms, licensed music may generally be incorporated into projects including:
Video Games
You may use the music in:
- PC games
- Console games
- Mobile games
- Browser games
- Virtual reality games
- Augmented reality projects
- Indie games
- Commercial games
- Free-to-play games
- Paid games
This includes games developed using engines such as:
- Unity
- Unreal Engine
- Godot
- GameMaker
- Other game development tools
The music must be incorporated into the game or project and must not be distributed to end users as an easily extractable standalone music product where reasonably avoidable.
Videos and Online Content
You may use the music in:
- YouTube videos
- YouTube Shorts
- Twitch streams
- Social media videos
- Tutorials
- Reviews
- Documentaries
- Promotional videos
- Trailers
- Advertisements
- Educational content
- Livestreams
Monetization of these projects is permitted.
Film and Audiovisual Productions
You may use the music in:
- Films
- Short films
- Animation
- Documentaries
- Series
- Web series
- Presentations
- Promotional productions
- Corporate videos
Applications and Software
You may incorporate the music into:
- Mobile applications
- Desktop applications
- Interactive experiences
- Educational software
- Digital installations
- Websites and web applications
Podcasts
You may use the music as:
- Background music
- Intro music
- Outro music
- Transitional music
The music must form part of the podcast production and may not be redistributed as a standalone audio product.
4. Number of Projects
Unless otherwise stated on the applicable product page, the license may be used in multiple completed projects owned or produced by the license holder.
For example, a game developer who purchases a music pack may use tracks from that pack across multiple games developed by that same license holder.
However, the original audio files may not be shared with unrelated developers, clients, companies, or third parties so that they can independently use the music in their own projects.
Each unrelated party requiring independent access to the source audio files must obtain their own license.
5. Client Work
You may use licensed Slice of Sound music in projects created for clients.
For example, a video editor may use a licensed track in a finished video created for a client.
You may deliver the completed project to the client.
However, you may not provide the original Slice of Sound music files to the client for unrestricted use outside that completed project.
If the client needs independent access to the music for additional projects, the client must obtain a separate license.
6. Teams and Companies
A license purchased by a company or organization may be used by employees and contractors working on projects for that organization.
The music files may be shared internally only with team members who reasonably require access to complete the licensed project.
Team members may not retain or reuse the files for unrelated personal or external projects.
Contractors who wish to use the music independently must obtain their own license.
7. Game Distribution
Games containing properly licensed Slice of Sound music may be commercially distributed through platforms including, but not limited to:
- Steam
- Epic Games Store
- itch.io
- Google Play
- Apple App Store
- Microsoft Store
- PlayStation platforms
- Xbox platforms
- Nintendo platforms
- Other game distribution platforms
You may sell unlimited copies of a properly licensed completed game unless a product-specific license states otherwise.
No additional Slice of Sound royalty is required based solely on the number of game copies sold.
8. YouTube and Monetized Content
Licensed Slice of Sound music may be used in monetized YouTube videos and other monetized online content.
You may earn advertising revenue, sponsorship revenue, membership revenue, and other revenue generated by the completed content.
However, purchasing or licensing a track does not grant the right to register that music as your own work with YouTube Content ID or similar copyright claiming systems.
9. Content ID
You may not register Slice of Sound music with:
- YouTube Content ID
- Meta Rights Manager
- TikTok copyright management systems
- Music recognition databases intended to assert ownership
- Any similar automated copyright enforcement platform
unless Slice of Sound gives you explicit written authorization.
This restriction applies even when the music has been incorporated into your project.
The purpose of this rule is to prevent automated copyright claims against Slice of Sound and other customers who have legally licensed the same music.
10. Streaming Platforms and Music Distribution
You may not distribute Slice of Sound tracks as standalone music releases through services such as:
- Spotify
- Apple Music
- Amazon Music
- YouTube Music
- Deezer
- Tidal
- SoundCloud distribution services
- Music distribution companies
- Similar music streaming platforms
You may not present yourself as the artist, composer, producer, or rights holder of the original Slice of Sound track unless you have received explicit written authorization.
Use of the music as part of a permitted audiovisual or interactive project remains allowed.
11. Prohibited Redistribution
You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, share, upload, or give away the original music files.
This includes distributing the music through:
- Asset stores
- Stock music libraries
- Music marketplaces
- Game asset packs
- Download websites
- File-sharing services
- Cloud folders intended for public distribution
- Torrent networks
- Free asset collections
- Subscription libraries
This restriction applies whether the files are offered for free or for payment.
12. Asset Packs and Templates
You may not include Slice of Sound music in a product whose primary purpose is to provide reusable assets to other creators.
For example, you may not include the original tracks in:
- Unity asset packs
- Unreal Engine asset packs
- Game templates intended for resale
- Starter kits
- Website templates
- Video editing templates
- Music libraries
- Sound libraries
- Creator resource bundles
unless Slice of Sound has explicitly authorized such redistribution in writing.
A playable completed game is not considered an asset pack merely because developers or players can purchase the game.
13. Modifications
You may modify licensed music when reasonably necessary for your project.
Permitted modifications may include:
- Cutting
- Trimming
- Looping
- Fading
- Changing volume
- Combining sections
- Synchronizing the music with visual content
- Applying reasonable audio effects
You may also convert the audio to another file format when technically necessary for your project.
Modifying the music does not give you ownership of the underlying track or create the right to redistribute the modified audio as a standalone product.
14. Remixes and Derivative Music Releases
You may not create and commercially distribute remixes, covers, extended versions, slowed versions, sped-up versions, isolated loops, or other standalone musical releases derived primarily from Slice of Sound music unless explicitly permitted in writing.
Editing the music for use inside a permitted project is allowed.
Creating a new standalone music product from the licensed track is not.
15. AI Training and Machine Learning
Unless explicitly authorized by Slice of Sound, the licensed audio files may not be intentionally uploaded, submitted, or incorporated into datasets for the purpose of:
- Training generative AI models
- Training music generation systems
- Building machine learning datasets
- Creating voice or music synthesis models
- Developing systems designed to reproduce or imitate the licensed audio
This restriction does not prohibit ordinary processing performed automatically by platforms where your completed project is legally published.
16. Source File Protection
When distributing a game, application, or other interactive product, you should take reasonable measures to prevent users from accessing the original audio files as standalone reusable assets.
Perfect technical protection is not required.
However, you may not intentionally distribute the original files in a way designed to allow users to extract and reuse them independently.
17. Credits
Unless a specific product states otherwise, crediting Slice of Sound is appreciated but not required.
When you choose to provide attribution, we recommend using:

Alternative reasonable attribution formats are also acceptable.
18. Ownership
Slice of Sound retains all rights and interests that it lawfully controls in the licensed music and associated materials.
The license grants permission to use the music under these Terms but does not transfer ownership of the underlying audio files, compositions, branding, artwork, or other intellectual property.
Third-party rights, if any, remain the property of their respective rights holders.
19. No Exclusivity
Unless expressly stated otherwise, all Slice of Sound licenses are non-exclusive.
This means the same music may be licensed to multiple customers and may appear in multiple games, videos, applications, or other projects.
Purchasing a license does not give you exclusive ownership or exclusive usage rights.
20. License Transfer
Your license may not normally be sold, assigned, sublicensed, or transferred to another unrelated person or organization.
Transfers occurring as part of a legitimate merger, acquisition, or transfer of an entire business may be evaluated separately.
For questions regarding business transfers, contact Slice of Sound.
21. License Term
Subject to compliance with these License Terms, licenses are generally granted on a perpetual basis unless the applicable product page states otherwise.
This means that a completed project properly created under a valid license may generally remain published even if Slice of Sound later stops selling the relevant music pack.
However, a license may be terminated if it was obtained fraudulently or if the license holder materially violates these Terms and fails to remedy the violation where applicable.
22. Updates to Music Packs
Slice of Sound may update music packs from time to time.
Updates may include:
- Improved audio files
- Additional formats
- Metadata corrections
- New documentation
- Additional tracks or versions
Purchasing a product does not automatically guarantee access to all future content or expansions unless specifically stated.
23. Refunds
Purchases are subject to the applicable Slice of Sound Refund Policy and any mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.
Purchases made through third-party marketplaces may also be subject to that marketplace’s refund procedures and policies.
Receiving a refund may terminate your license to use the refunded product unless applicable law or the refund terms provide otherwise.
24. Third-Party Marketplaces
Slice of Sound music may be distributed through third-party platforms and marketplaces.
Those marketplaces may impose additional terms relating to:
- Accounts
- Payments
- Downloads
- Refunds
- Distribution
- Technical requirements
Where marketplace-specific rules conflict with administrative aspects of these Terms, the marketplace’s rules may apply to transactions occurring on that platform.
However, restrictions relating to ownership and unauthorized redistribution of Slice of Sound music continue to apply unless the applicable product license states otherwise.
25. License Violations
Use of Slice of Sound music outside the rights granted by these Terms may result in termination of the applicable license.
Examples include:
- Reselling the music
- Distributing source files
- Claiming ownership
- Unauthorized Content ID registration
- Uploading the music to stock libraries
- Sharing purchased files publicly
- Using the files to create competing asset packs
Slice of Sound reserves the right to take reasonable measures to protect rights it lawfully controls.
26. No Trademark License
This music license does not grant permission to use the Slice of Sound name, logo, trademarks, or branding in a way that suggests partnership, sponsorship, endorsement, or official affiliation.
You may reasonably identify Slice of Sound for attribution or licensing purposes.
27. Compatibility
References to Unity, Unreal Engine, Steam, YouTube, or other third-party services describe potential compatibility or permitted use cases only.
Slice of Sound is not necessarily affiliated with or endorsed by these platforms or their respective owners.
All third-party trademarks belong to their respective owners.
28. Changes to These License Terms
Slice of Sound may update these License Terms for future purchases or downloads.
Whenever reasonably possible, the version of the license in effect when you legally obtained a product will govern that license.
Changes to future licensing terms do not automatically remove rights already validly granted under an earlier license, except where required by law or mutually agreed.
29. Governing Terms
These Music Licensing Terms operate together with the Slice of Sound:
- Terms & Conditions
- Privacy Policy
- Refund Policy
- Product-specific licensing information
If a particular music product includes written licensing terms that expressly differ from these general License Terms, the product-specific terms will control for that product.
